Pre-pay tickets coming to London restaurants

Clove Club restaurant reviews

Would you buy a ticket for a meal at a restaurant the way you do for a play or football match? Michelin-starred restaurant The Clove Club in Shoreditch thinks you would. The restaurant has partnered with restaurant reservation system Tock and will require diners to pre-pay for dinner. Tickets can’t be cancelled (just like at the theatre) but they can be re-sold.

Clove Club chef Isaac McHale is aware that ”It’s going to ruffle a few feathers. But everyone has a problem with no shows and short-seated tables”.

Soho has a new venue for Peruvian cuisine. “Japanese inspired Nikkei cuisine” to be precise – the mix of traditional Peruvian cuisine with Japanese influences that has developed in Peru over a long time.

At Chotto Matte, this means dishes like avocado tempura with smoked purple potato or grilled baby chicken with spicy pomegranate salsa. Set over 3 floors on Soho’s Frith Street, the restaurant also features a robata grill and a sushi bar.

Shoryu Ramen expanding in the West End

On Piccadilly Circus, you find yourself surrounded by Shoryu Ramen outlets. On Lower Regent Street you’ll find the original branch, which opened late last year. Across the road, next to the Japan Centre, Shoryu Express opened on 9 July, a “rapid, self-service style prototype ramen bar”. And a bit further North, after a successful soft launch, Shoryu Ramen Soho is now open as well.
